Champagne Toast at Soccer Game Could Send Politician to Jail

Serbian President Boris Tadic, his sports minister and the head of the football federation, Tomislav Karadzic, thought a champagne toast was in order after their country's soccer team defeated Romania 5-0 in a World Cup qualifier game. Turns out a photo of the two along with the head of the soccer federation is causing quite a stir.

The trio was photographed raising their glass in celebration. Problem is consuming alcohol in sporting venues is against the law in Belgrade, where the game was played.

Chinese Drinking Tradition Causes Third Death

Three different Chineese political figures deaths have been linked to on the job drinking. The latest incident happened when the party secretary of Fengyang's Xiaogang village was found dead in his bed early this week.

Shen Hao, 46, was believed to have ignored his own health at the expense of government business. Police say he was so drunk at night's end that he needed assistance just to make it home.

On Saturday, October 24, 2009 St. Paul Minnesota will be the host city for North America's largest Scotch and Whiskey Festival.

The event kicks off at noon with quite a bit of revelry, including music from bagpipes. You'll have the opportunity to visit several tents set up on the property of the local watering hole, The Happy Gnome.

It's hard to to believe the hit Tom Cruise movie "Cocktail" is about to celebrate it's 20th anniversary.



Click to Tweet This NowBack in 1988, we were introduced to Brian Flanagan (played by Cruise), the aspiring, up-and-coming bartender who was ready to take over the world. The movie was made before the Cruise couch-jumping days and was the flick that put the young star on the map.

In honor of the big day, the TGI Friday's in New York's Penn Train Station is throwing a birthday party tonight at 6:00PM.

Court Upholds Caning of Woman for Drinking Beer

A Malaysian women has been sentenced to receive the punishment of caning for enjoying a frosty cold beer. Kartika Sari Dewi Shukarno, who is 32 and a mother of two, was caught at a resort drinking a beer back in December of 2007. She was sentenced this summer and ordered to pay a fine of $1,400 and six strokes from a cane. Under Islamic religious laws, it is forbidden for followers to consume alcoholic beverages.

World's Oldest Bartender Retires

Angelo Cammarata served his very first beer just minutes after Prohibition ended way back in 1933. He cracked open a 10 cents bottle of beer called Fort Pitt in his father's grocery store.

At the ripe old age of 95 this barkeep has racked up a long list of accomplishments: he is listed in the Guinness World Records book as the longest-serving bartender and even the Jim Beam company inducted him into their Bartender Hall of Fame. Ang or "Cam" as his friends call him decided last month to hang up his bar towel after 70 years of serving drink at family-run Cammarata's Cafe.

Lawmaker Avoids His Own Booze Tax By Crossing Border

The New Hampshire state motto is "Live Free or Die." With a slogan like that it is no wonder that the state have no income or sales tax. This has made New Hampshire liquor stores a profitable business with many bordering states driving the extra miles to save on that very expensive tax.


This normally wouldn't be a bad thing to do if you were a normal citizen but if you a law maker who voted to pass the tax it might look bad if you took part in this practice.
