North Carolina loves barbecue pork and it has quite a history of unhealthy cuisine options and fast food franchises. In all, four North Carolina cities ended up in the top 25 of the fast food-addicted cities -- with two in the top five. Greensboro earned a D and the number 23 spot on the list while Durham edged them out with a D- and the 20th spot. Raleigh and Charlotte both pulled solid F grades for the number 5 and number 3 spots, respectively.
Charlotte is the largest city in North Carolina and the 18th largest city in the country. It has been called the "Best Walking City" in North Carolina by Prevention Magazine (2007) but apparently the residents are not walking off enough of that fast food they're eating. There are still plenty of drivers on the road and plenty of drive through restaurants for them to pull through.

In fact, Charlotte and North Carolina in general is home to some of the most unhealthy fast food giants. Bojangles', a chicken and biscuit fast food joint, was even founded in Charlotte in 1977. Today you can find nearly 30 locations of the fast food restaurant within Charlotte city limits and the headquarters for Krispy Kreme, a doughnut shop, is located just over an hour up the road in Winston-Salem. - 100 Fast Food-Addicted Cities

On the other hand, Charlotte gets a lot of positive press. The city was chosen as "The Best Place to Live" in 2008 by Relocate-America.com and CNNMoney recognized it as number 8 on their list of "The Best Places to Live and Launch" for businesses. It's the birthplace of Billy Graham and has been known as the "City of Churches" due to the high importance religion has with the residents.
And, if you keep your eyes open, you're sure to find some healthy places to eat in the local area as well.

I live in the Northeast, but my company's headquarters is located in Raleigh, NC. When I met my new coworkers for the first time, I was shocked to notice that 80% of the company was grossly over weight. Everyone literally waddled when they walked. When they took me out to lunch and dinner, we went to some nice places, but they ordered alot of fried and fatty foods. It's a shame that they don't make better choices when it comes to their health.
