Sorry, New Hampshire. Your governor thinks he knows better. If you have a terminal illness and are in a lot of pain keep popping expensive pain-relieving pills because marijuana won't be legal for you just yet.
Governor John Lynch vetoed legislation that would have made New Hampshire the 14th state to legalize medical marijuana use by severely ill people. His reason was concerns over distribution and cultivation.
Last year, he received $17,000 in campaign contributions from pharmaceutical companies. They probably wouldn't want anyone to cut into their business. Representative Evalyn S. Merrick, who sponsored the bill, will push for an override.
No Air Time for High Time
There's a commercial that was produced by the Marijuana Policy Project that promotes the use of marijuana as a way to boost the economy. The lady in the commercial, Nadene Herndon, says she wants to pay taxes on her marijuana, citing that it is much safer than alcohol, which is legal.
She goes on to say that the California government is "ignoring millions of Californians who want to pay taxes. We are marijuana consumers".
However, Los Angeles TV stations KTLA and KABC refused to run the ads because of its content. Yet, despite the stations' refusal, the ad will run on other stations for a total of about 200 times.
Harry Pothead Could Face 14 Years
Jamie Waylett from the Harry Potter films has been charged with growing 10 marijuana plants. The 19-year-old who plays Vincent Crabbe was pulled over by cops who found 8 bags of marijuana in his car.
After being taken in, a team of coppers raided his mom's house, finding the plants, worth about $3,000, next to his PlayStation. Waylett could face 14 years for cannabis production. Ridiculous!
