When pet owners go on holiday, there is always the question of what to do their four-legged loved ones. Do you take 'em with you? If you fly certain airlines and the pet is small, then that is an option, You could ship them in cargo, but that can be traumatic for your pet and dangerous.
Do you set 'em up in a kennel? Those can be expensive and the added stress of shuttling your pet to the kennel and still making your flight. Some airports have convenient pet hotels at the airport like the Royal Pet Inn in Narita, Japan where you can drop your pet off and pick them back up on your way back in, but those are still rare.
Now there's another option, Pet Airways. Pet Airways is a pet only airline where animals fly in the main cabin and are looked after by 'pet attendants' who make sure your dogs are secure and monitor for potty breaks which is impossible on a regular human flight.
With fares between New York and LA starting at $199 each way, Pet Airways may not be any less expensive than a kennel, but if you have a cute bulldog that won't fit under an airline seat and typical bully breathing issues that makes a flight in cargo scary, Pet Airways is a way that Spot can join the family on holiday.
Cities currently served are New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Denver and Washington, D.C. You have to check your pet into the flight at least two hours before. Don't worry, if your pet arrives at the destination before you, Pet Airways will board them at their pet lodge until you arrive. That's also a helpful service if you're using Pet Airways as a safer alternative to transport your pet as part of a relocation. Allergies ... do they stop and think of banning perfume for those of us who have issues with that?
Or what about putting up with drunks when they either loose their inhibitions or their lunch? No talk about banning alcohol here I see ...
Give me a cat or dog any day compared to some guy next to me who thinks he is entitled to half my seat. Or who reeks from the beers he has consumed. Don't get me wrong; I drink and I also have pet allergies (cats, but I also own cats.)
My point is there are some animals that are much better behaved than some people. And I rather have the pet on the place with me.
