Whatchu talkin' bout Carrot Top? Prop comedian Carrot Top has been signed on to the direct-to-dvd film, American Pie: Book of Love.

The movie will also star actor and former California gubernatorial candidate Gary Coleman, Sherman Hemsley of The Jeffersons and singer Wayne Newton. This will be the seventh movie of the once popular American Pie series.

The film was originally supposed to have two cameos from the original American Pie cast members: Tara Reid and Thomas Ian Nicholas were written into this sequel upon sequels. However, Nicholas, known for discovering the "tongue tornado" in the "Book of Love", which documented sex tips in the original film, turned down the offer to be in the film.

Supposedly the money was rerouted to bring in Hemsley, Coleman, Newton and Top. Now the screenplay has to be rewritten. The basic story should still work as it centers around three virgins who find the "Book of Love" which has been ruined. The incomplete advice from the book leads to crazy hijinks.

The film is going to star Bug Hall who was Alfalfa in the remake of The Little Rascals. Eugene Levy is rumored to return to his role as Mr. Levenstein. David H. Steinberg who co-wrote American Pie 2 wrote this one and may be directing it as well -- there's a petition online for those dire American Pie fans who desire Steinberg to captain the ship. A denizen of the teenage-romp genre, Steinberg is also penning the remake of Porky's which is currently titled Howard Stern's Porky's.

Carrot Top, aka Scott Thompson, starred in Chairman of the Board which came out a year before the original American Pie. He is currently headlining at the Luxor in Las Vegas. Wayne Newton will be headlining at the MGM Grand starting April 23.
