I have eaten at the Big Texan a few times.
The steak is big but the quality leaves a lot to be desired

Thats usualy the case, larger cuts are not as tender as smaller ones. The flavor is also sometimes lacking.

This is nothing new to drum up business for the Big Texas. They have been doing it for years. We watched a guy attempt the steak when we were there in 2002. Besides the steak you have to eat all the trimmings as well - baked potato, shrimp cocktail, and salad - to get your meal free. They actually have one person who has eaten two of these meals in one hour!

Just because a steak is big is no guarantee it will be good. The most tender cuts are the loin of the beast. And 'prime' meat which is not easy to find is obviously the best. A lot of 'steak houses' tend to use cheaper cuts and soak them in a meat tenderizer which makes them mushy. And don't forget that a lot of animal fat and meat causes arterial problems for all humans. Longevity doesn't have much animal products on it's menu! Make mine medium rare....thanks!

Here in the small Wisconsin town of Hortonville a restaraunt, called the Black Otter, offers a 108oz. Prime Rib Steak. If that's too small they also offer a 160oz. Eating either one gets you a free t-shirt and your Pic on the wall of fame. Beat that Texas

I realize most are steak lovers. However, I am not a beef eater of any kind. Even the pic was nausiating to me. I do not understand how people can eat red meat that is seeping blood on the plate. Sorry steak lovers!!
I am nausious by the smell of beef cooking. Ask my family, They crave Beef...I prefer the white meats my self. For those of you that can handle a peice of beef that large, go get yourself a free meal. I will stay home and have grilled chicken breast !! (Yum)

Adam from Man vs. Food did the Big Texan challenge and finished without a problem. I love watching that guy do these ridiculous food challenges. I love steak, but I don't think I could eat 72 ounces or more at one time.

Shyla, red meat doesn't take any longer than other foods to digest. A healthy digestive system will pass all foods consumed within 2 to 3 days. In fact, beef is highly digestible. 97 percent of beef is digestible, 89 percent of flour is digestilbe, and 65 percent of most vegetables are digestible. Whatever you cannot digest, comes out with your waste.

Been to the Big Texan in Amarillo. The steak is not all it's cracked up to be. Who care's if it's big if it has no taste?

I sort of doubt that you guys could even begin to know how to do anything better that in Texas, other than make cheeze. And the place they are talking about on here is not the best Texas has to offer. So bet we have steak places down here to make your otter wet it;s pants
