Right now I would kill for a decent cannoli opr a rum cake, I can taste it. I'm from Brooklyn and when I went back to visit a few years ago I went to aldis bakery for some real Italian pastries, it was heaven, there is also a French backery on fifth ave in upper Bay Ridge that has the best cheescake, I was surrounded by wonderful Bakeries, if I ever go back to Brooklyn the bakeries will be one of the main reasons. I actually found a shop in upper bay ridge that still made Charlotte Russe, OMG, I'm getting faint.

THE BEST cupcakes are at Larry's House of Cakes in Marion, IL.
The best doughnuts used to be at Harrisburg, IL IGA. It's been a
while since I've had them. If they haven't changed the recipe, they
were better than Krispy Kreme. Now I got the taste in my mouth. Mmmm

Sprinkles and the other Cupcake maker in Beverly Hills are both over rated. I've had them both more than once, not my decision after the first time, and none of us are that excited about them.

Please add my favorites from Eastern Pennsylvania. The Shop Rite Supermarkets have donuts and pastries that are to die for. They are anything but chintzy. Large and filled with cream, or Jelly. Best part is that they are only $0.59 each. What a bargain in these days of financial problems.
