If Rachel Ray called them "Yum-O' they probably have heavy garlic and onion seasoning like everything else she makes that she calls that.

Rachel Ray couldnt heat up a cup of Starbucks coffee in a microwave. She is such a windbag. Who wants a 15 second meal or to go on a vacation and eat junk food.

Sorry, I kept trying for a while, then realized there
is no retail outlet that can make a pie like my mom can.
We keep trying to convince her to go public, but she
says "no." So, sorry, all you consumers, you'll never
know what really good pie is all about.

Hey! how about pies of the west coast??? We are not even represented here. Lets go to Cambria, California and try Linn's Fruit Bin. Home of the olalliberry cobler and pie. For years and years Linn's was a tiny road side attraction in the backwoods of Cambria on a windy country road where you could venture and purchase preserves and fresh pies. They now are all over the place; but still have the best pies in California.
Has anyone ever had an Olalliberry Pie??? It is a must...don't buy one alone as it will NOT see daylight. Trust me on this one!
We have many other places as well, including the Avila fruit barn on the way to Avila Beach, California. The list goes on.
So, let's not dis the Central Coast of California Rachel :)

First she is not a chef, and second she is way to old at 40 to continue with the silly little girl slang of "yummo!" Third she professes to not know a thing about baking, so why ask her opinion. If you headlined, "Rachel Ray loves this pie" then I would care. Otherwise, get your reporters to get it straight. I cannot stand another false headline.

You sure did miss on this one by a very large margin. Ever hear of the Western part of the United States? Yeah, we even have some great pie's out here also. For starter's, hard to compare the quality of the wide variety of pie's served AND sold by Marie Callanders.

Why are all of you so jealous of Rachael Ray???? If you can't say anything nice about her. Why not say nothing at all????

Hi, everybody in this great group:
I am an exception to the rest, weird I suppose. For some strange reason, I have never liked sweets, even when I was a kid. And that includes ice cream, pies, cakes, cookies, everything. But I learned something great with this post, to my husband's benefit--about Costco's pies being the best. Thanks a lot for the post. I need to get him some pumpkin and apple pie, his favorites. I wish all of you the best Thanksgiving Holiday of your lives. And if you like the pies, the cakes, and the spice and everything nice--go for it. Enjoy.

Hi, Bud
Thanks for this post. I go to Costco, but have never visited the bakery. I better hurry up there and get some of these pies for my husband. He has been on a pie-suppressed diet for the longest. He used to eat a small pie for breakfast (either pumpkin or apple) every single morning until it started to show up. But now, with discipline and abstinence he lost all the extra pounds. A treat from me for Thanksgiving will be well received by him. I'm sure he will adore me! :)

If your ever in Hawaii and want to taste what a pie should taste like go to Sunnyside in Wahiawa on the Island of Oahu. Their pies are to die for. Their peach/pear is out of this world and you haven`t tasted real pumpkim pie until you have tasted theirs. You have to order days in advance to get the pie you want. Certain pies are only made on certain days. Try it and you will love it like everyone else on the Island

Hello!
There are obviously so many fine pie makers out there, they can not all be mentioned! And as a rule, most of the best pie makers are from the 20's and 30's, our "moms and dads!" Long before "pulse for 10 seconds" became the standard to make pie crust. Lard and ol' fashioned wooden rolling pins, knowing the crust by feel and if it needs a little more of this or that, all make for the best pies no matter what part of the country you're talking about! Having been brought up in the northeast on a dairy farm, I have to recommend places in my own back yard. Sam Mazza's in Colchester, Vermont still makes all their pies from scratch and have their own fruit and berry farm. The best blueberry pie I have ever tasted, even better than my mom's, was at the Johnson's Family Restaurant on 84 E or 84 W, depending on which side of the road you're on, in south Maine. If you ever can attend a local church supper or any type of small dinner event put on by, say the fire dept or a PTA or local school, these are also the best to sample not only the best pies made but everything else that's on the plate! I've eaten pies from that little pie company in NYC, they are good...But the filling in the banana creme pie is way too little. They pile tons of banana's in their pies and the filling is way too scant! And lastly, nothing is worse in a pie if the crust is NOT up to par: not soggy, must be flaky, tender, not too rich or too buttery, it then tastes greasy! And it must be thick enough so it is proportionate in taste to the amount of filling and/or topping!
