Canadian frozen yogurt giant and Pinkberry predecessor Yogen Früz will be opening new stores across upstate New York starting at Eastview Mall in Victor, New York on November 28. The chain, which has been around since 1986 already has several locations in the US -- mostly through the west -- and throughout the world.

As with all Yogen Früz locations, the new stores will also donate a portion of their profits to a charity.

The charity benefiting from the stores, Compeer Rochester, assists adults and children struggling to overcome mental illness, especially loneliness and low self esteem. The organization does this initiating friendships between those in need and their volunteers. Through mentoring, skill building and phone support, the volunteers aim to build relationships with people and help heal them.

Some delicious treats will contribute to the profits going toward the charity. Yogen Früz combines fresh fruits and frozen yogurt to create tasty but healthy desserts. The Blend It menu items are blended with your choice of fruit and made with probiotic ingredients while the Top It items are simply topped with your favorite fruits. Smoothies, fruit cups and parfaits are also available.

Other organizations with which Yogen Früz has worked include Colon Cancer Canada, a foundation dedicated to spreading awareness about colon cancer, and Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of Canada which assists patients living with those diseases. Yogen Früz has been focused on giving back to local communities since 1998 when they established the Yogen Früz Charity Endowment Fund focused on providing to the Sick Kids Foundation.
