Several bands that ohave some staying power are touring. Whether they play rock or reggae, their fan base has yet to abandon them no matter how long they've been together.
And one of these more famous bands, AC/DC, is experiencing quite a popular tour. They've already played eight shows since October 28, 2008. Tonight, they play Madison Square Garden in New York, New York and from there they move onto Washington, DC on November 15 and Philadelphia, PA on November 17. The tour will take them across country and into Canada before they head overseas to Europe. The final show will be in London on April 14, 2009.
Another band not so well-known in the states but with a big fan base in the UK, Status Quo, is taking their show on the road this month as well. The band will play 17 shows across Europe, kicking off in Copenhagen, Germany on December 2, 2008. Their tour will end in Southend, UK on February 10, 2009.
Big Winners At CMA Awards
At last night's CMA Awards, held at the Sommet Center in Nashville, Tennessee, Brad Paisley took home both the honors for Male Vocalist of the Year and Music Video of the year. Meanwhile, George Strait took home awards for both the Album of the Year for his Troubadour and Single of the Year for "I Saw God Today". Strait now holds the record after winning his two awards for having won the most CMA Awards in history. The country crooner owns 22 total awards.
Kenny Chesney earned the prestigious award for Entertainer of the Year award. Other big winners included Sugarland with Vocal Duo of the Year and Carrie Underwood for Female Vocalist of the Year.
Rolling Stone Names 100 Greatest
Rolling Stone Magazine has narrowed down the greatest singers of all time into a list of 100. Radiohead's Thom Yorke made the list at number 66 while Bono came in at number 32. Other honored names included Tina Turner (17), Al Green (14), Marvin Gaye (6) and Ray Charles (2). The top spot deservingly went to the very talented Aretha Franklin.
