As an entire generation who grew up never not knowing video games reach the appropriate drinking age (in fact most of them are well past the drinking age at this point), it should be no surprise that video games have become fixtures in the corners of bars.
Of course classic video games and pinball machines have always been in that corner. But they were generally the games that seemed more at home in an arcade polluted with the sounds of digital explosions and pored over by crowds of gaming enthusiasts. It's a new kind of game that has replaced the classics and it has drawn a bit of a cult-ish following -- not of video game enthusiasts but of golf enthusiasts who tend to prefer bars over arcades.
The game is Golden Tee and it's been around 20 years. The Manufacturers of the game have produced other sports-related video games but none have been anywhere near as popular as Golden Tee. From the beginning, they aimed placement for this game in bars rather than arcades because they knew what kind of crowd to pinpoint and they were right.
Halloween Parties On
Halloween draws near and for many adults that means big parties, an opportunity to dress up as someone outrageous and an excuse to have more than a few drinks. This year some big bashes are being planned all over the country. AOL CityGuide has the scoop on just a few of them. The West Hollywood Carnaval and Dead Man's Ball in Chicago are just a few featured.
Another seasonal celebration kicks off in Key West this upcoming weekend. Fantasy Fest 2008, an annual festival and party, runs October 17 through 26. Adults come from all over to dress in some very skimpy costumes (or nothing at all) and party on the streets of Key West. Those who decide to attend should be ready for almost anything.
Chili's Goes Tailgating
Chili's comes to the college kids. The Chili's Tailgate Tour, a first of its kind for the restaurant, will be stopping by 15 college football games through November 15 to judge tailgaters' tailgating methods. The tour is looking for fans who can incorporate some Chili's favorites or display the Chili's iconic pepper somewhere around their tailgate. Check out the official Website for more info on where they'll be headed.
