Nicholas Cage's action flick Bangkok Dangerous edged the still-going Tropic Thunder to win the Sept. 7 weekend box office war for a slumping post-Labor Day.
Even though Bangkok is showing at 800 fewer theaters, it was still able to silence Thunder's claim on top spot taking in $7.8-million at 2650 theaters to Thunder's $7.5-million on 3446 screens.
Shot in Bangkok by the Pang Brothers remaking their own 1999 movie of the same name, filming lived up to the the movie's 'Dangerous' name when according to Cage, he had to evacuate his family ahead of an attempted coup. Once his family was safe, he went back to filming where he plays a mute-deaf assassin.
