So the official beach season ended with Labor Day meaning special beach transportation will stop running, lifeguards will disappear and fewer beach babes will be spotted strutting along the shore. However, all of this could be good news as well. In most places, the temperature is holding at the mid-80's and the water hasn't turned cold yet. The days are still long-ish (or longer than they'll be next month). And -- the best part -- prices are already starting to plummet.

Granted you only have so much time to cash in on these deals before it just gets too cold to go to the beach. So you really should jump on some of these deals now.

In September, the Hamptons social calendar thins out quite a bit. People who "summer" start to return to their regular homes and locals start stocking up canned food and batteries for the long winter. This gives you a chance to waltz into the area and enjoy the beaches without getting sand kicked on you by a gang of unruly kids or eat without having to wait in line for a table. You can also save a little money on a later vacation.

A few Bed & Breakfasts in the area, like the historic 1708 House, lower their required stay from two days down to three. You might even be able to find some Web deals to go with as well. Mill House Inn even features weekday specials for "After" Labor Day visitors.

If you'd rather take a trip to the West Coast, head to the upscale Hotel del Coronado in San Diego. The usually pricey hotel offers a few "Fall" packages, including a third night for free if you stay for two consecutive nights. San Diego features some of the world's most beautiful beaches and if you stay in the Coronado, you'll be able to enjoy some amazing spa pampering. So much better than going into work on Monday morning.
