Everyone always agonizes over first dates, but they're really not that crucial. Just find a place where you and your prospective sweetheart can converse and, if there's chemistry, it will be a success. Choosing the proper location only becomes crucial on that all-important third date (you know, the one where the other person actually decides whether or not they're going to sleep with you). With that in mind, I've compiled this guide for guys to help plan third dates that are guaranteed to seal the deal.
Taking your date to a fancy French restaurant may be cliché, but that's because it works. Gourmet, rich foodstuffs and opulent decor are dynamite when it comes to getting ladies in the mood for lovin'. Chocolate is also a huge turn on, so it's best to visit a French restaurant with a good pastry chef. Payard is a good place to start, it's the brainchild of award-winning pastry chef Francois Payard, who trained under legendary chocolatier Jacques Torres and there are branches in Las Vegas, New York, Tokyo and Sao Paolo.
Sushi is also excellent third date cuisine. Believe it or not, raw fish is slimy and kind of sensual. Knowing the difference between sushi and sashimi and being able to eat with chopsticks also will make you seem cultured. Be forewarned, eating the weirder menu items like sea urchin and fish eggs can make you appear adventurous, but it can also backfire if you're date gets easily grossed out. My top sushi picks include Ginza in Boston and Matsuhisa, the Beverly Hills home of celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa. Unlike French restaurants, sushi places rarely serve chocolate-y dishes, but New York's Blue Ribbon Sushi is great because they have an understated, elegant decor and a decadent green tea chocolate bruno on the dessert menu.
If you don't want to go the restaurant route, Zoos are another great third date option. They have pretty scenery and are great for walking around and getting to know someone. Watching the animals on display provides lots of conversation fodder, and if you see the zoo creatures getting it on it may even give your date some ideas. Visiting a zoo also makes it seem like you're super-sensitive and care about animals-- women love that sh*t. The best zoos in the country are the the Bronx Zoo in New York, the San Diego Zoo, and Zoo Atlanta. Some zoophiles would probably disagree with me about Zoo Atlanta because it's relatively tiny, but they've got an amazing gorilla exhibit and the red Georgia clay dyes the elephants red, which is quite a sight to see.
